Even with proper brushing and flossing plaque and calculus can accumulate on teeth over time, and while some plaque can be cleared away with brushing and flossing, often the harder calculus cannot, leading to tooth decay. Regularly scheduled cleanings with our hygienists are recommended every 6 months to help prevent tooth decay and gum disease.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays (or radiographs) are taken to complement a clinical exam and help us evaluate your teeth, gums, and bone levels. We use digital radiographs because they require 90% less radiation than traditional x-ray film.

Dental Exams

The goal of our complete oral examination is to gather all necessary information to best prepare an optimal treatment plan for you.  This includes evaluating your oral health as well as overall health status, a full set of x-rays, and a head and neck exam that checks for disease outside the mouth.  We recommend each patient receive a complete oral examination twice a year.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride fights tooth decay by strengthening your tooth’s enamel to prevent tooth decay.

Sealants

Sealants are a preventative treatment against tooth decay.  They are placed on the chewing surfaces of teeth where tooth decay occurs most often.  We recommend sealants for all children once their permanent teeth have erupted.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Each year roughly 36,000 Americans are diagnosed with oral cancer, and 8,000 will lose their lives to this disease. One of the best ways to fight oral cancer is to catch it early, and this is why we include an oral cancer screening into each of our exams.
